CU Students to visit SIU’s Logic Farm

logicAre you interested in going to Southern Illinois University’s Student Farm and Field to Fork Tour on Saturday, June 15?

The event runs from 8:00 – 10:00 am so students leaving Champaign will need to leave early to get there!  If you want to go and need a ride email!

The Local Organic Gardening Initiative of Carbondale (LOGIC) is the SIU Student Garden. It has raised beds, a hoop house, and a permaculture site, all organized and operated by student volunteers! The SIU College of Agriculture is also active with a vermiculture composting facility and a Field to Fork program that grows food for the SIU Dining Halls. All are welcome to visit the Center for a tour from 8 to 10 AM. Then visit one of Carbondale’s two Farmers’ Markets! Students play a critical role in these sustainability initiatives, and they will tell you about their successes (and challenges). The intended audience for this event is community members, students, teachers, and farmers interested in local food and education. Cost is free.

Pre-registration is requested here, but walk-ins are welcome.
