Are you interested in the campus food foot print? Seeking undergraduate help to assist with food system research, life cycle analysis of food products purchased by UIUC Dining Services. This project is funded under the Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture Program (www.agroecologyandsustainableagriculture.org).
We will be determining the greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint of food products (foodprint) and product categories (dairy, meat, produce, etc.). This initial campus foodprint report will provide a baseline for purchasing recommendations to reduce the overall campus GHG footprint as outlined in the Illinois Climate Action Plan. Future work will: 1.) Expand on this work and determine alternative scenarios for GHG reductions via procurement 2.) Educate campus on GHG impacts of food choices.
You will be on the forefront of an ongoing project to improve campus and regional sustainability!
Employee will assist in:
- -Database management
- -Carbon footprint modeling for purchased food products
- -Campus food system understanding survey
Approximate starting date: March 31, 2014
Workload: approximately 10 hours/week
Compensation: $10/hour
Hours flexible through spring, summer 2014

Required:
- Microsoft Excel Proficiency
- Teamwork and Communication Skills
Preferred but not required:
- German Proficiency
- Microsoft Access Proficiency
