Assistant Professor Environmental Sustainability at SIU Carbondale


SIU is looking for an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Environmental Sustainability to start August 16, 2020. Applications should include a cover letter describing sustainability-oriented teaching and research experience and goals, a CV, a list of three references and, copies of reprints of recent publications. The position will be housed within the School of Earth Systems and Sustainability is a newly formed school affiliated with the College of Science and houses programs in Geography and Environmental Resources (geography.siu.edu).

Competitive candidates will have earned doctorate in Geography, Geology, or a closely related field on or before August 15, 2020 and have relevant teaching and research experience. The applicant’s professional record should demonstrate ability and/or high potential to publish, secure external funding. Preference will be given to applicants with a focus on applied research in sustainability science that complements existing strengths in the School of Earth Systems and Sustainability. Post-doctoral experience is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities: teaching of upper and lower level courses, service on M.S. and Ph.D. student committees; maintaining an active and successful research program that includes external research support; and appropriate service.
