March for Science April 22 in CU

  • When is the March for Science: Champaign-Urbana?
The CU March will be on the same day as the national March for Science: Saturday, April 22nd. It will begin at 5 PM and will end around 7 PM.
  • Where is the March for Science: Champaign-Urbana?
The March will begin lining up at 5 PM, and the following rally should begin close to 5:45 PM, all at the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum in Downtown Champaign (near Neil and Church Streets).
  • Why are you marching?
The Trump administration has made several policy changes that worry lovers of science. They have frozen funding, put federal agencies under a gag order, and deleted information that is politically inconvenient.
Our march along with others around the country will show the new administration that we will not allow these practices to stand as policy.
We are marching to shine light on current issues in science education and careers.
We are taking an intersectional approach to show how other groups, like women, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+, and people of different abilities need to have greater representation in science.
  • Who should come to the CU March?
Anyone who loves and values empirical science!
  • Is the march affiliated with a political group?
The Champaign-Urbana March for Science is non-partisan. We are not affiliated with any group. We are simply concerned citizens.
