A few weeks ago we wrote about some of your options for sustainable and organic food around Chambana, and specifically on Urbana’s Farmers Market at Illinois and Vine. What we failed to report, however, was the North 1st Street Farmers Market in Champaign. Located each Thursday from 3-7 p.m. until September 1st at the parking lot on North 1st Street, the Market calls itself a ‘small, yet vibrant market with an urban feel.’ Along with all the fruits and vegetables that you’d come to expect, 1st Street features ‘cooking demonstrations and free samples’, and local vendors from 1st Street itself. The Market is also partnered with the Don Moyers Boys and Girls Club Prosperity Garden, which provides the Market with vegetables and tours of the garden. So it’s all for a good cause. Check it out.
