Hold on to your hats, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for; registration for the Sustainable Agriculture Education Association’s 5th annual National Conference is now open! This year’s conference will take place September 9-10 in Corvallis, Oregon, on the site of Oregon State University. The theme of this year’s conference will be ‘The Campus Food System: A Learning Laboratory’, and as you’d expect, they’re looking for young, strapping, doe-eyed students much like yourself to attend. They would especially like you college students to attend, for the SAEA is rooted in and to the success of college farms; pre-2002 the organization was called ‘The College Farms Sustainable Agriculture Educators Working Group’. I agree with the decision to move to an acronym.
To let them tell it in they’re own words, the SAEA looks to “give sustainable agriculture educators, students, and advocates a chance to share and develop innovations in sustainable agriculture education”. Per their website, the conference will also put an emphasis on networking, at a national level, no less. Very professional. There’s little mention of cost and/or financial help in attending the conference in the presser, but all questions, should you have any, can be directed towards Kristin Pool at SAEA2012@oregonstate.edu.
